No-exam life insurance
Eligibility for expedited underwriting, how the process works, and what happens without it.
Today many carriers have accelerated underwriting: for people within age and amount ranges, they make decisions from the application, pharmacy records, driving history and other sources, skipping the exam. Approvals can come within hours. Every quote here notes whether an exam is required, optional, or not needed.
What it changes
No exam doesn't mean no underwriting. Carriers verify your answers; a policy granted on false information can be challenged for two years. If the carrier's own data flags something, they may still order an exam; you can choose what to do.
Who tends to qualify
Generally people under about 60 requesting coverage up to the carrier's expedited ceiling, with clean health history and no tobacco in the past year. Some carriers will take a recent doctor's visit with blood work instead of a new exam.
If an exam is needed, it's typically a 20-30 minute visit from a paramedical professional at your home or workplace here in Livermore, at no charge. For healthy applicants, the results sometimes raise your rate class, so the exam isn't always bad news.
